1. Editorial cartoonists often use humor to illustrate what they view as absurd or ridiculous. One of the types of humor they use is irony. Irony is defined when the opposite of what you expect to happen occurs. Describe the irony in Steve Kelley’s cartoon.

2. Do you agree with the cartoonist’s assertion about Facebook users? Explain your answer.

1. Based on the woman’s complaints, you expect her to be careful going forward about the personal information she posts, or even possibly closing her Facebook page. Instead, following her complaints about her privacy not being protected by Facebook, she goes on to post a lot of personal information about herself on the very platform that she believes is reckless with her privacy. TechCrunch’s Jason Kincaid compared it to: “…jumping into a pool and then complaining that you’re wet.”
