[Deadline to file taxes is usually April 15th, but this year was April 17th]2 – The General Services Administration (GSA) has come under investigation for spending taxpayer money on lavish parties. More than $800,000 was spent by the GSA in a single weekend for a lavish employee “training” conference in Las Vegas.
[The irony: the GSA, an independent agency of the federal government, was established to help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies, and among other tasks, develop government-wide cost-minimizing policies.]The GSA’s top official (an Obama appointee) has resigned, two top aides were fired and at least 10 individuals have been placed on administrative leave. The Senate this week conducted hearings on the matter.
