Horn player Jaap van der Vliet, one of five members of Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra who put on an impromptu performance in a NY City subway car as a prelude to their Carnegie Hall performance. The orchestra — which has 120 musicians at full strength — was recognized as the best in the world in 2008.
