No One Could’ve Seen That Coming
“The government’s price control measure for essential medicines has had an unexpected fallout—several of these drugs, including those for treatment of chronic ailments such as high uric acid levels, diabetes and acne, are either in short supply or have gone missing from chemist shops.”—Times of India, Dec. 13

Keep Your Day Job
“Barack Obama traveled to New Jersey’s Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst [Monday] to celebrate the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan,” notes blogger Jim Hoft. “During his speech the president attempted to crack a soldier-Santa joke. Awkward silence filled the audience.” Here’s the joke:

That’s the noble spirit of your sacrifice. That’s the selfless character of our military. Those are the precious gifts you give America not just this time of year but all year. Every year, you never stop serving. You never stop giving. It’s like Santa in fatigues [silence]. Although, I bet one of those C130s is a little more efficient than Santa’s sleigh.

Sounds as if the secretary of state is writing his material.
