Barack Obama promised a new transparency in government. He’s still promising. Go the Web site Recovery.gov and you’ll find this announcement:

Check back after the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act [the so-called stimulus] to see how and where your tax dollars are spent.

An oversight board will routinely update this site as part of an unprecedented effort to root out waste, inefficiency, and unnecessary spending in our government.

Is that too big a job for Congress? Even when all it requires is rejecting the stimulus bill?
