“Gun-Brandishing Man Sought to Investigate Fake News Story Site, Police Say”—headline, CNN, Dec. 5

Petering Out
The Daily Wire notices another liberal, this time a moderately prominent one, who doesn’t seem to be taking the election well. Peter Beinart, a writer for the Atlantic best known as a harsh critic of Israel, tweeted Sunday: “Annual Beinart holiday card. Photo: two radiant children. Caption: F— You America.” Only his tweet had letters in place of the hyphens.

Some took offense, including Mark Dubowitz of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, who replied: “Despicable. This proud immigrant & new U.S. citizen says: God bless America and forgive those who speak like this.” (The “new U.S. citizen” is Dubowitz, not Beinart, who is natural-born.)

Beinart replied to Dubowitz: “1) it’s a joke. 2) tell me what u did (+ are doing) to stop Trump before lecturing me about patriotism.” Things change so quickly: When George W. Bush was president, dissent was patriotic. Then Barack Obama made dissent unpatriotic. Now Trump is making assent unpatriotic! Beinart is right, it is a joke.
