1. Last week, several NJ Democratic politicians accompanied protesters to Delaney Hall Detention Center, an immigration detention facility which houses criminal illegal migrants / illegal migrant families. ICE agents said the pols were shouting in the agents’ faces and one attempted to elbow her way past them to get through the facility gates. The pols said they were subject to “contempt, disrespect and aggression” from ICE agents.
2. The Democrats said they were only attempting to “conduct lawful congressional oversight” into the facility. ICE said the politicians were demanding the closure of the Detention Center. A DHS spokesperson said, “Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility / permanently denied them access.”
3. President Trump signed an executive order on Monday setting a 30-day deadline for drugmakers to lower the cost of COVID vaccines / prescription drugs in the U.S. or face new limits on what the government will pay.
4. The aim of the president’s order is to stop subsidizing pharmaceutical costs for other countries – and “to equalize,” as Trump said during a Monday morning news conference, noting “We’re all going to pay the same. We’re going to pay what Europe / China pays.”
5. During his Gulf states trip this week, President Trump signed a strategic economic partnership with Saudi Arabia, in which the Crown Prince has committed to investing $600 million / $600 billion in the U.S.
6. Trump wants the countries he visited to align with him against China’a efforts to become the world power – and also against Israel / Iran.
7. The three Gulf countries President Trump visited in his first major international trip of his second term were Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The focus of President Trump’s trip was to secure business deals and investments / a peace treaty between Iran and Israel.
8. The economic exchange with Qatar is worth at least $1.2 trillion / $1.2 billion and includes a Boeing deal is slated to support 154,000 American jobs annually and will total more than a million jobs in the United States as part of the production and delivery process of the aircraft involved.
9. The United Arab Emirates and the U.S. signed an agreement on Thursday during President Trump’s visit for the Gulf country to build the largest artificial intelligence campus outside the U.S. To ensure the chips can be managed securely, the agreement requires the UAE data centers being built to be managed by Chinese / U.S. companies.
10. The campus in Abu Dhabi will be 1 square mile / 10 square miles with 5 gigawatts of power capacity for AI data centers.
