Cartoonist Lisa Benson is referring to the many stories of Canadians traveling to the U.S. for life-saving or pain-relieving (hip replacements, etc.) operations and medical care. The waiting list for tests, specialists and treatments/surgery under Canada’s government-run health care system is long. Benson jokes that even Canadians are concerned about the proposed health care overhaul in the U.S., fearful that it will become similar to Canada’s system.
