UPDATE:  After days of reports that the White House coronavirus task force would wind down in May, the Trump administration on Wednesday, May 6 said the group of public health experts and officials headed by Vice President Mike Pence would continue its work amid the pandemic.

In a Twitter thread, President Donald Trump said the task force “will continue on indefinitely,” albeit with a with a focus shifted away from slowing the spread of the deadly virus to “safety and opening up our country again.”
