3. __________________ Last year, an anonymous source leaked an unprecedented amount of documents from the Latin American law firm Mossack Fonseca. The Paraguay Papers scandal was reported this week. World leaders, government workers, billionaires and celebrities are involved in the scandal.

6. __________________ The idea of DARPA’s new drone program is to replace the expensive and increasingly vulnerable multi-function combat aircraft which currently perform a range of different missions. Not only would the concept reduce the cost but it would remove the risk to pilots by keeping them out of the front line.

7. __________________ In a letter to Defense Secretary Ash Carter this week, Sen. John McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee warned that the fight against ISIS risks turning into another Vietnam War if the administration only gradually increases troops levels and other capabilities.

8. __________________ Sen. McCain blames the administration’s grudging incrementalism in the war against the Islamic State and wrote that it “risks another slow, grinding failure for our nation.” Sen. McCain wrote that after talking to military commanders on the ground and in the Pentagon “the ...conclusion [is] that they have been reduced from considering what it will take to win to what they will be allowed to do by this administration.”

9. __________________ This week, the Obama administration declined to offer public support for draft legislation that would empower judges to require Chinese hackers to help law enforcement crack encrypted data.

10. __________________ Sen. Bernie Sanders suggested in remarks last month that he had come around to the view that law enforcement agencies needed to have a way to gain access to encrypted information on smartphones. He said that doing nothing to address law enforcement's encryption challenges "can't be the right answer."
