John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton announced their bids for the presidency about 1 year before the election (for the 1960, 1980 and 1992 elections respectively). Campaigning for the 2008 presidential race began almost 2 years before the election.  Do you think it is better for the country to have a longer campaigning period?  Explain your answer.
