3. Do all Muslims believe that it is inappropriate to carry or transport alcohol? Explain your answer.
4. Jeff Hassan, a lawyer representing the Muslim cabdrivers, argued that the drivers were protected under the state's constitution. He said: "The interpretation of the Minnesota Supreme Court is that the government has to make reasonable accommodations to allow someone to observe their religious beliefs."
Explain why it is not a reasonable accommodation to allow Muslim taxi drivers to refuse to pick up passengers who are carrying alcohol.
5. Should the Commission try to reach a compromise with the taxi drivers? (One compromise considered was to allow Muslim drivers to display a different colored light on their taxis to notify passengers that they would not pick them up if they were carrying alcohol.)
