Background

Messianic Jews are Jewish people who believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the son of God who died for the sins of mankind and was resurrected so that all who believe might be reconciled with God.  Most Jewish people believe that when Messianic Jews accept Jesus as Savior, they are no longer Jewish.  Messianic believers disagree and say they are just as Jewish as ever.

According to wikipedia.org: "as of 1993 there were 160,000 adherents of Messianic Judaism in the United States and 350,000 worldwide. As of 2003, there were at least 150 Messianic synagogues in the U.S. and over 400 worldwide.  The number of Messianic Jews in Israel is 15,000 members."
